Oh Dear

My goodness, I can not believe I haven't written a darn thing here since July. The end of summer flew by and now it's fall!!! I love fall it's my absolute favorite of all the seasons.
Lately I have been super busy with the "real job" and just figuring out what I am going to do with myself in both the near and the distant future. But in the meantime I have lots of catching up to do, so I will be back on friday to dish. And I won't stay away this long ever again. XOXO

So Far This Month...

The 4th was good, holidays always make me miss New York and all the stuff I grew up doing, and my family's cooking. My family too of course. Fireworks are fun though, it seemed like they were all over the place.

So we went to see fireworks, then came home and put a cape on the cat and he flew around the room for a bit. Next year we need to plan ahead better, to prevent this sort of boredom.

Other than that I have been busy with my new job, and sewing a little here and there, by the end of the week I should have some new stuff in the shop. Hope you are all having a great July!

Hello July!

Wow I seriously can't believe it is July already! July is my favorite month, my birthday month; and yes I like to drag out the birthday celebrating for a whole month, it's more fun that way!
Even though is has been hot for a good long while, I feel like summer is just getting underway, and there is lots to do! Next week I start my new job at a salon, I'm nervous and excited to start something new. So far I have met some really cool people that work there, and gotten a new do.
In the meantime I have had time to spend with this little guy, he's recovering from surgery.

While he was at the vet, the doctor called to let me know surgery went fine, but there was a "miss communication" and someone prepped him to get spayed and shaved him, not realizing he is a boy and needed to get neutered. I really don't know how they missed his ... well.. his parts. I mean they are right there, we had a good laugh about it, poor little guy is all exposed now.

July is also moving month, we are heading down the road to our loft apartment at the end of the month. I am super excited, and still have loooots of packing to do, but instead I have been picking paint colors, combing Craiglist for sweet furniture deals (I really want an old hoosier cabinet!), and staring at my favorite book (you know, the Ikea catalog).

One last thing... I am loving this album...

Hope ya'll are having a great summer so far!
XOXO

Dusty Feet Dolls

This past weekend these special little dolls went with a special friend of mine to an arts festival in Portland, ME. You'll have to excuse the photo, I snapped it really quick the night I finished them up, then it was into a box and off to Maine!
The dolls were part of Dusty Feet's table at the show, each art or craft on the table represented a group of people that Dusty Feet reaches out to, my dolls were to raise awareness for human trafficking. Learn more about Dusty Feet and everything they do in East Africa at www.hopestartsnow.com!

Catch up...

+ First, an excuse... my little part time restaurant job turned out to be not so part time after all and I have been there a loooot these days.

+ Sublime Stitching at the Indie Craft Fair! I've never embroidered before, but I snagged a few kits here and am in love! The embroidery pictured above is from The Black Apple pattern.

+ I put in my two weeks at the restaurant and will be starting a waaaay cooler job at a hair salon, in which a requirement of working there is to wear cool clothes and have fabulous hair, I am feeling very grateful to be starting a job that I am excited about at a really cool company.

+ The sewing table has accumulated a good layer of started projects, summer dresses, tote bags, a quilt, and a whole bunch of fabric napkins.

+ I have lots of fun little things to add to my etsy shop. This may or may not get done this weekend.

+ Right now I am off to clean up my workspace and finish up a special little project hopefully in time to send it off to Maine on Monday! It's very exciting and I will share it with you when I'm done.

Have a great weekend everyone!

Interuptions

This summer I am hoping to make myself a bunch of clothes, sundresses, tops, and skirts. I have a stack of fabric and patterns, mostly Built by Wendy ones which are very lovely and simple to understand and construct. The one above is my first try of the summer, I am making it out of one of my thrifted bedsheets. A good practice run, I can get back into the swing of sewing clothes and if I mess up too bad I won't ruin any too important fabric.
I also want to try Collette patterns, I came across these online one day, sooo beautiful. I'm not sure if I am more in love with the clothes themselves or the amazingly styled photographs, ahhh.
And now I am off to sew and probably fold an emormous pile of laundry. I just started a job these week at a local resturant and it tends to interupt my normal routine of doing things.
